Magic Ring

Round 1: start 6 sc in a magic ring (6)

The magic ring is a popular starting technique in amigurumi because it creates a tight, seamless center for your project. It's perfect for forming a rounded shape at the beginning of your creation!

If you're struggling with the magic ring, try the chain 2 method instead! Simply chain 2, then work your first round of stitches into the first chain.

While this method leaves a small hole at the center, it’s a great beginner-friendly alternative that still creates a neat, circular base. As you gain confidence, you can always revisit the magic ring later!

Now you are ready to start crocheting!

But before we dive in, let's make sure you're all set up for success by getting comfortable with how to hold your yarn and hook in the proper crochet position.

Counting stitches and using stitch markers

Counting your stitches is crucial to keeping your project on track. Using stitch markers can help you keep count and stay organised, especially in the more complex rounds.
