Round 4 - 8 - Increasing the size of the piece

R4: 18 sc (18)

For Round 4, work 1 single crochet into each stitch around to maintain 18 stitches.

R5: [sc, inc, sc] x 6 (24)

For Round 5, repeat (1 single crochet, increase, 1 single crochet) six times, increasing the stitch count to 24 stitches.

R6: [2 sc, inc, sc] x 6 (30)

Try to read this pattern!

Hint: it's very similar to round 3 except that the sc is now 2 sc. So it's now [1, 1, 2, 1] for Round 6.

Confused between 1 inc and 2 sc?

Determining the right side of an amigurumi

Your crochet piece has two sides, but which one should be facing out? The easiest way to tell is by checking the yarn tail—it should be inside the "bowl" shape of your work. Think of it like a noodle sitting inside a bowl—that’s the correct side that should be facing outward for your amigurumi!

Counting amigurumi rounds

It's important to keep track of your rounds as you crochet. Losing count can be a bit frustrating, so take your time and double-check as you go!

R7-8: 30 sc (30)

For Rounds 7–8, work 1 single crochet into each stitch around, maintaining the stitch count at 30 stitches for both rounds.

By now, your piece should look like a bowl. Getting there!
